Visiting The Beaches Of Hilton Head
Hilton Head, South Carolina is one of the more sought after tourist areas in the Southern United States. It is especially popular with those living in the southern United States. It is a very comfortable place to visit and it is a somewhat accessible drive from just about any state in the southeast. There is not a lot of partying that you might get with the larger, more commercialized beach vacation spots.
There are approximately 14 or 15 miles of beach area in Hilton Head. There are several popular areas for tourists wanting to spend some time on the beach. We have only seen a few beaches. For the most part the beaches are easily accessible. They are relatively flat, so if you are a runner for a biker, early mornings on the beach are a fantastic time to be out there.
The tides are pretty low in the morning time but they rise pretty quickly throughout the day. The crowds will get on the beach at around 10 or 11 am. Even at the more crowded times, the beaches were not too crowded. There was plenty of open area to do whatever you wanted to do without having to run into anyone. As you would expect the busier times were on the weekend, specifically Saturday. So if you do want to find a good spot on Saturdays you may want to get out there a some time earlier.
The last Hilton Head beach we stayed on had just about everything you needed. There were public restrooms and places to change. Beach showers were available so one could remove the sand off of you when you decided to call it quits for the day. Volleyball nets were available. There were not a lot of nets, so if you wanted to play volleyball you would have to get a net early in the day. They were constantly occupied when we where there.
There was also a little bar that was a popular spot later in the day. It was near the hotel property but was not limited to hotel patrons. Anyone could stop in. Beverages were served every night. Live music was aplenty just about every e evening until about 10 pm or so.
Some of the beaches were more popular than others for bikes and seeing wildlife. Certain areas around the Sea Pines resort were great places to go if you wanted to get a glimpse of dolphins or other wildlife. There was a lot of bike riders in Sea Pines. You must pay attention to what you are doing, the people on bicycles can come out of nowhere. This is true regardless of whether you are driving around or walking around in the Sea Pines area.
I highly recommended a Hilton Head vacation to anyone. We plan on spending a lot more time there. It is a exceptional spot for the whole family. There are things for kids to do and also things to keep the adults interested. It is even enjoyable if you want to do nothing but lay back a unwind on the beach for a while.
